ALT-C is now the largest UK conference series on the use of 
technology to support teaching and learning in tertiary education, 
attracting an international audience of key practitioners and 
decision makers throughout the sector. ALT-C 2000 will examine the 
crucial and sometimes controversial roles of learning technology 
practice, policy and partnership as colleges and universities 
respond to the challenging new educational environment.   

Among our internationally renowned guest speakers will be 
Jack Wilson, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, USA; 
Betty Collis, University of Twente, The Netherlands; and 
Diana Laurillard, Open University, UK.

How you can participate as a presenter

Submit a short abstract to ALT-C 2000 via our online submission
form at http://www.umist.ac.uk/alt-c2000 
Your submission should address one of the three conference 
themes of: 

* Practice: creative approaches to integrating learning technology in
courses 
* Policy: the role of technology in institutional teaching and
learning strategies 
* Partnership: learning technology development via consortia, 
cross-sector collaboration and with commercial partners

Types of session

* Paper sessions (15-20 minutes presentation followed by panel 
discussion) 
* Interactive presentations (15 minutes rolling demonstration or
presentation) 
* Discussions (30-60 minutes)

Presenters' timetable

Proposals due:             14 April 2000
Refereeing process:        April-May 2000
Acceptance notification:   30 May 2000
Presenters to register by: 15 July 2000

All accepted abstracts will be published on the web site before the
conference and included in the handbook, on the condition that
delegates register for the conference. Selected papers resulting from
the paper sessions and interactive presentations will be published in
ALT's peer-reviewed journal, ALT-J.
