Brian I do not have any direct experience of similar situations but I do recommend in the Needs Assessment Report that students insure their equipment through an all risks policy. It's up to them whether or not they choose to do so of course. To be very harsh why should a LEA pay for replacement of equipment that is not insured, we would have to foot the bill if our own goods were stolen/damaged if we had not covered them with an insurance policy.
