A colleague who belongs to various mialing lists says
....................................
On Tuesday 4th Jan at 4pm I sent a message to the lis-elib list
containing the subject line:

"Information on eLib web magazines and e-journals needed"

The following day I received a reply to my message containing the
message:

"I received your email and I shall send you a reply ASAP.
Till then, take a look at the attached zipped docs."

I (foolishly) opened the attached file.

The attachment was a trojan horse, which deleted the contents of various
Word and Excel files I had access to.

The trojan is documented at:

http://www.cert.org/advisories/CA-99-06-explorezip.html

Apparently the program can be (unknowingly) sent by people who have been
affected.

If you receive this message, delete it straight away - do not open the
attachment!

If you have been affected, contact your local IT support.

Mailbase have been informed of the problem. However messages do not
appear to be sent to Mailbase (so they can't trap the message) and the
people sending the attached file and probably doing so inadvertently.

NOTE that the trojan is a nasty one.
