I'm forwarding this to the list because it should be of interest to many members, not least because the effect of short-term research contracts on the position of women in science and engineering is explicitly discussed in this high-profile government report (and the reduction of such short-termism is one of the main policy recommendations). Other relevant aspects concern working conditions and institutional policies within universities. I took part in some of the online debate, and I think the report is fair and well-balanced, although as you might expect it misses out some of the more lively comments and strong complaints. ------- Forwarded Message Follows ------- Date: Fri, 21 Jan 2000 11:41:57 -0000 Subject: Report on the women in science consultation From: Pearce Sarah <[log in to unmask]> To: "[log in to unmask]" <[log in to unmask]> Reply-to: [log in to unmask] The report on the Women in Science, Engineering and Technology on-line consultation has now been published.
