I haven't seen a convincing current single point reference on this subject.
I can assure you that Fortran support continues to be an integral part of
the strategy for the introduction of new architectures for scientific
computing.  Try a search for Fortran on http://developer.intel.com and
http://www.sgi.com/developers/ to mention only the tip of an iceberg which
leads quickly to passworded sites.
