Dear colleagues and friends of Caribbean Studies,

I just joined this mailing list and would like to briefly introduce myself.  I have been interested in development studies, in general, Caribbean Studies, in particular, since I began my studies at the tertiary level in the early 1980s.  In the course of my studies and life, I have become particularly fascinated with aspects of Caribbean culture.  However, my research interests are focused on development issues, international relations, migration, and political economy and political culture of the region.

I am currently working at the Caribbean Research Center at Medgar Evers College (CUNY) in Brooklyn, New York, where I am in charge of various research projects, assistant editor of our refereed journal Wadabagei. A Journal of the Caribbean and its Diaspora, grant writing, and website development.  Our journal's website is located at <http://www.dynateck.com/wadabagei>.   I am also facilitating a Caribbean Studies website called "The Virtual Institute of Caribbean Studies" at <http://www.netcom.com/~hhenke/index.htm>, which - among other things - has a quarterly newsletter and downloadable research papers.  You may also find some more details about my own work at this website.

I look forward to the discussions in this mailing list and hope that I can contribute a small part to them as well.

With kind regards,
Holger Henke
