Hi everybody, I' m after some advice on reading on the post-slavery Caribbean. Can anyone suggest anything on plantocratic or imperial government attempts to maintain social control amongst the emancipated population in the 1830s and 1840s? I'm particularly interested in Barbados, but advice on comparative/general reading would be great. Thanks very much.
