Fred Lee has been inspirational in supporting heterodox economics in the UK and generous in his thanks to other people who have helped out. I think it's possible to send an email which actually incorporates hand-clapping - that's beyond me - but, Fred, please take this note as an enormous round of applause for your work and collegiality, and best wishes for your new job in the US. For the record, I'd like to clarify the support we can give for the AHE from the Open University. We have some research funds generated by our RAE submissions. We decide as a Discipline group how to spend those funds as well as workload planning and other commitments. We'll be discussing how to best support Andrew Trigg, as convenor of the AHE, in the Autumn. I can't promise, in advance, that we can provide secretarial support or anything else. We want to see the AHE flourish and we'll do whatever we can within our other priorities to make that happen.
