I am writing to invite you to a talk by James Robertson, one of the leading
figures and writers in New Economics and founder of the New Economics
Foundation. James' theme will be 'The New economics of Sustainable
Development: Using Resource Rentals for Public Revenue'. This is a timely
subject given the need to find new ways of raising revenue that are both
efficient and just, coupled with the new opportunities of devolution.

The talk will be at 6pm on Thursday 27th January in the 2nd Floor of 4
O'Meara Street, off Southwark Street (nearest tubes Borough and London
Bridge). There is no entrance charge and all are welcome. If you are
thinking of coming, or if you need any further information, please do
contact us at the address above.

This talk is the first in a monthly series leading to the launch of the
'Progressive Forum' on the 11th April 2000. The 'Progressive Forum' is a new
network that will link together academics, professionals and others with an
interest in resource rentals and their impacts, from fields such as
planning, economics, development and housing. The Progressive Forum'
initiates and circulates research and provides an information service to
members. Further details will be available at the talk or from the above
address.

I hope to meet you on the 27th of January or subsequently.
With very best wishes,
Katharine Deighton (Research Co-ordinator) for
Tony Vickers MSc, ARICS (Chief Executive
