ADC-LTSN workshop

Introduction to Still & Moving Image Metadata for the Visual & Performing
Arts
Friday 1 December 2000, University of Ulster

This workshop is organised by the LTSN Subject Centre for Art, Design and
Communication (ADC) and will be held in collaboration with three of the UK
Higher Education expert digitisation advisory services: the Performing
Arts Data Service (PADS), the Technical Advisory Service for Images (TASI)
and the Visual Arts Data Service (VADS), who have combined to produce this
one-day introductory metadata workshop.

Participants
The workshop is primarily aimed at those in the Visual & Performing Arts
communities who are relatively NEW to digitisation issues and are
planning, creating or developing digital resources that employ still and /
or moving images. It will also be of interest to those outside these
subject domains who are making use of still & moving images in digital
projects. 

Process
The workshops will focus on the practical application of metadata issues
to digitisation projects, through participatory sessions and will address
metadata issues for both the PRODUCTION & DELIVERY of digital image data. 

Outcomes 
As a result of this workshop you will be able to:
*	discuss metadata and its role in digitisation projects
*	review the concepts, issues and PRACTICAL APPLICATION of still &
moving image metadata in the creation of digital resources
*	explore metadata issues specific to the Visual Arts and the
Performing Arts and their relevance to resources and delivery of teaching
and learning material in art, design and communication.

Venue 
The workshop will be held at the University of Ulster, Belfast

Cost 
The cost of the workshop is 50 pounds per person, which includes tea,
coffee and lunch.
