IT Forum: digitisation of archives
By popular demand (by which I mean responses to a message on
this list) the event held in February in Liverpool is being repeated in
London, at the Brunei Gallery, School of Oriental and African
Studies, on Monday October 9th from 10.30-4.30. The programme
appears at the end of this message, but you can also see it on the
Society of Archivists web site (http://www.archives.org.uk) in the
Training Digest under Education and Training, and in the current
Training Brochure, where you will find a booking form.
The day begins with an overview of project planning from Joanne
Lomax Smith of the Higher Education Digitisation Service. This will
be followed by case studies. The projects described and
demonstrated range in scale from the large and collaborative to
small single office, and cover a range of archival materials. The
Liverpool meeting generated a great deal of discussion- both
questions and sharing of experience. Following that, the internal
timings published in the web-site programme will be rescheduled
on the day to give all the case study speakers a little more time.
The IT Panel looks forward to meeting you on the 9th.
