Locals in Caernarfon will address each other as 'boi' (boy)
as in 'Ti'n iawn boi?' (Are you ok boy).
Again non gender specific.
However the most disconcerting to visitors is the term 'cont' - no, not the
offensive English version with a u, but used in the same manner as above -
'Ti'n iawn cont'
Both 'boi' and 'cont' are used whilst speaking both Welsh and English!
I have been asked questions by 70 year olds followed by the word 'cont'
which can be very very odd when coming from a dear old lady - again sorry to
be so ageist and sexist - blame it on my chapel upbringing!
