Job Opportunity for Visiting Scientist The Centre de coopération internationale en recherche agronomique pour le développement (CIRAD) is a French scientific organization specializing in development-oriented agricultural research for the tropics and subtropics. It is a state-owned body. The Centre has a staff of 1 800 persons, with a budget of 1 billion French francs. CIRAD operates in about 60 countries, contributing to economic development through research, experiments, training, and dissemination of scientific and technical information. Tropical ecosystems analysis: mathematical and statisticalformalization of complex dynamical systems (processes with many parameters, acting at various temporal and spatial scales) 2. Design of experimental devices taking in to account the complexity of ecological processes 3. Expertise of ecological data expertise : statistical analyses and improvement of methods 4. Students training and participation in writing international research tenders Required profile: PhD. in statistics with recognised experience in ecology, preferably in forestry or related fields. Qualifications should include abilities and knowledge in: - Multidimensional data analysis with ability to take into account recent developments linked to the specificity of ecological data - Chronological series (longitudinal data); partial differential equation (to improve matrix models) - Non-parametric statistics, classical inferential and sensitivity analysis knowledge - Ability to work in team is essential. Conditions This position is for a 18 months’ period and applicants will be seconded from their research institute.
