These methods are used here as a springboard to describe modern regression techniques. Topics covered include the fitting of non-linear models and the modelling of non-normal data and introductions to ridge regression and principal components regression. Also included in the course is a description of the diagnostics used to check models. These are essential tools in the modelling process. After all, conclusions based on models that do not properly describe an observed set of data may be invalid.
