Horticulture Research International (HRI) is the world's largest
horticultural R&D organisation serving fundamental, strategic and applied
science needs of horticulture in the UK and abroad.

Our Biometrics Department is looking for a Senior Statistician to run the
group based at our site at East Malling in Kent.  East Malling is one of the
longest established horticultural research stations in the world with a
reputation for science associated with top and soft fruit.

You will lead a small team of statisticians interacting with scientists
working at the leading edge of plant science both in Kent and elsewhere,
doing interesting and varied work in an expanding research programme.  The
post will involve acting as a consultant and team member of major research
projects and developing and adapting new methodologies to horticultural and
health research.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in statistics together with several
years' experience in a research environment.  Previous experience in the use
of GenStat, S-Plus and Matlab would be an advantage together with some
knowledge of biometrical genetics.

Salary at appointment in the range £24,200 - £28,000 per annum; initial
salary determined by qualifications and experience.
