DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS & STATISTICS READVERTISEMENT LECTURER / JUNIOR LECTURER IN STATISTICS The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is one of three departments comprising the College of Informatics and Electronics. It offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematical Sciences and Computing with specialist options in Mathematics, Statistics, Computing and Financial Mathematics; a taught Master of Science degree in Applied Mathematics and Computing and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mathematics/Statistics/Computing. In addition, the Department is responsible for the teaching of the mathematics, statistics and mathematics education components of all other degree programmes in the University. The range of such instruction extends through mathematical methods, applied statistics, operations research, numerical analysis and mathematical education. There is also a substantial programme of postgraduate research leading to M.Sc. and PhD awards. This research covers a wide range of areas including fluid mechanics, geophysical fluid dynamics, industrial mathematics, non-linear mathematics, numerical analysis, reliability, neural networks, mathematical education, Bayesian methods, spatial statistics, epidemiology and survival analysis. The successful candidates will possess a record of published research and a clear commitment to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. A doctorate is normally required together with lecturing and/or industrial experience.
