PhD Studentship at the Norwegian Computing Center, Oslo Funding is available for a three year PhD grant on the subject of non-stationary, non-Gaussian space-time modelling, with particular application to rainfall data. The candidate will work at NR in Oslo and her/his PhD will be awarded by the Department of Mathematics of the University of Oslo. Candidates should have a good degree in a subject with a large statistical content, and preferably some knowledge of spatial and/or temporal modelling. An interest in environmental modelling would also be an advantage. Norsk Regnesentral (NR, the Norwegian Computing Center) is a research institute with expertise in the field of statistics and mathematical modelling. It employs around 30 statisticians on a wide range of applied and research projects in both the public and private sectors. The cost of living is relatively high, but the grant is currently around NOK 240,000 per year (approx GBP 19,000).
