A permanent vacancy for a statistician has arisen within Man Investment

Company background
Man Investment Products are a leader in the field of alternative investment
products. Within this area we specialise in the development and application
of quantitative investment approaches and the management of client and
institutional funds.

Job description
The successful applicant will work within the research team who are
responsible for the development and maintenance of the in-house trading
models. In particular the applicant will have the opportunity to gain
experience in the field of alternative investments and work in areas
including the statistical modelling of markets, financial time series and
modelling/analysis of portfolio risk. 

Statistical experience
We are looking for someone with practical experience in the development and
application of statistical techniques to applied problems. In particular the
applicant should have an MSc or PhD and preferably some post-qualification
experience working in a statistical area.  Experience in time series,
financial statistics or extreme value theory would be beneficial but not
essential. An interest in finance is important but previous experience in
this area is not necessary.

Computing experience
We use a wide range of computing languages implemented on both UNIX and
Windows operating systems. It is essential the applicant has good computing
skills. Relevant experience would include MATLAB, S-Plus (or other
statistical packages) and C related languages.
