Rachel The University of Wales has recently approved Regulations for the award of the Degree of PhD (by Published Works), although these apply to its six Constituent Institutions (Aberystwyth, Bangor, Cardiff, College of Medicine, Lampeter and Swansea) only, and are not applicable in the case of the other institutions of the University. The criteria for award are based on those established for the PhD : we view the new Regulations as offering a 'different route' to that degree, and not as a new degree in its own right. I'll arrange for a copy of the Regs to be forwarded on to you. Also, I imagine that you;ll have seen it already, but if not, the UKCGE booklet on PhDs by Published Works makes for an interesting read. The University is currently reviewing its regulations and procedures regarding this type of award. I would like to ask colleagues: a) which Universities offer this type of award; b) information on their regulations and procedures regarding this award. Many thanks.
