Apologies to everyone,
In my ignorance I previously sent a message as an attachment! Hope its now
correct

I was seeking your opinion on discrepant plasma versus serum calcium results
that we have noted using Becton Dickinson 5ml vacutainers type SST & PST.
This came to light from blood collected from subjects being investigated for
? hyperparathyroidism when both SST & PST blood samples were obtained at
same venepuncture (we normally use PST for routine chemistries).
Examples:
Calcium mmol/L (Olympus method) PST 2.61 (albumin 28g/L) SST 2.39 (albumin
25)
                                                    PST 2.29
18 SST 1.92 18
                                                    PST 2.80
17 SST 2.04 18
                                                    PST 2.74
21 SST 2.12 21
                                                    PST 2.30
18 SST 1.93 18
All specimens except the last PST were assayed within 1h of sample
separation -- the last PST result was obtained following freezer storage.
Has anyone noted similar with these types of "gel tubes"

Thanks for your help
