Hi,

I have noticed a couple of Universities cacheing quite heavily. Don't get
me wrong I am NOT complaining.

I am curious. What are the advantages of cacheing the servers of other
Universities.

Is it done for money, ie. to save on connection costs. I cannot see where
the savings - if any - are going to be made as probably more traffic is
put through by the act of cacheing itself.

Is if for a speedier local delivery of service?

Something else?

=================

I can see the advantages of cacheing non-uk servers, eg. US based servers
where we have to pay for the traffic we create and so on, or European
servers where connections can be slow.

If anyone can enlighten me :-)

Ta.
Charles
