TEACHING & LEARNING DEVELOPMENT
The University has one of the longest established Educational
Development teams in UK higher education. The early retirement of the
current Head and a restructuring of departmental activities offer
exciting opportunities for three new members of staff:

HEAD OF EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Salary cstlg35000 pa
Your role will be to promote and facilitate the further development of
quality in teaching and learning across the University; to contribute
to institutional policy and practice; to encourage innovation and
excellence; and to support the implementation of the University's
Learning and Teaching Strategy. You will provide management and
leadership to a team of educational developers, will have oversight of
and contribute to courses for new lecturers and established academic
staff. You will be expected to maintain constructive links with
national educational developments, in order to build on the
University's leading position in relation to current learning and
teaching agendas.

A wide understanding of educational development theory and its
application in HE are expected, as is an outstanding teaching record,
and an awareness of current educational research. Excellent
interpersonal and team working skills are crucial.

DEVELOPMENT ADVISOR: LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES
Salary stlg23880 to stlg31555 pa
You will be a member of the Educational Development team with specific
responsibility for embedding learning technologies. You will be
expected to stimulate C&IT innovation and support those involved with
emerging initiatives at a curriculum development level, for example by
delivering our existing postgraduate courses and contributing to the
course for new lecturers. Other activities will include support for
individuals, departments and projects, and working with the Learning
Support Advisors. Although a knowledge of and affinity with the use of
learning technologies is expected, an awareness of pedagogy in HE
along with teaching skills are more important than specific technical
expertise.

DEVELOPMENT ADVISOR : RESEARCH
Salary stlg23880 to stlg31555 pa
The main remit of this post will be to carry out research related to
the development of University's Learning and Teaching Strategy,
particularly those aspects relating to student centred learning. You
will also be expected to seek new research and funding opportunities,
and make links with similar developments nationally and
internationally. This post in the Educational Development team builds
on the considerable work already undertaken by the TLTP3 EFFECTS
Project. You will also be expected to contribute to courses for new
lecturers, to relevant curriculum developments, and to emerging
University strategies.
