I lived for a while in Minnesota, where the local dialect reputedly
included over seventy words for "cold." Though I never became fluent in
that language, I can recall a few of them:

         prittidarn-cold: ordinary, below freezing cold.

         jeezuhzits-cold : cold around 0 F.

         kohlderinah-wichestit: cold well below 0 F.

         ahmfreezin-mahnutsoff: wind chill factor below -30 F.

ahkantfukkin-bleevthis: too cold to even snow any more.

ahwanngoh-tuh-hawayi: cold which freezes ground snow so
hard that it squeaks under your boots.
