As the Mining Journal is such a useful source of information for mining
historians, wouldn't the 'digitising' of their archives be a useful
project, particularly since getting access to 'back issues' is so
difficult?

If the digital material was then made available on the internet, this
would allow much greater use of a very useful and interesting resource.

Out of interest, what is to stop people with old copies of the magazine
(say over 70 years old) putting articles of interest from the magazine
onto the internet?

Would they be breaking any copyright laws, assuming they give credit to
the original source?

I have photocopies from several old mining journals and magazines, which
could be put onto the web and given a wider audience, but wouldn't like
to transgress any of the numerous copyright laws.
