Mr. Aebischer:
I support Prof. Mendelson's recommendation of Dava Sobel's book, but it's
title is "Longitude". Originally it was published as a hardbound book about
the size of a pocket book, however there is a later edition that is richly
illustrated and is larger in size. A&E (TV productions) have made
4-one-hour episodes of the trials and tribulations of John Harrison and of
Rupert Gould, the 20th century restorer of the 4 Harrison timepieces. A&E
sell the video. To the extent that I know the story (from other sources, as
well as Sobel's book), I believe that the videos tell the story correctly.
