Perhaps I am not in sync with the timing thread as it seems to be beyond the original question by now, but I want to mention that Bill Mitchell at NIST has a set of timing routines called StopWatch in f90. Here is the url I know about: http://math.nist.gov/~WMitchell/StopWatch.html It may be worth checking out. Perhaps it could at least partly serve your needs? I've used it but only a couple of times a year or so ago. Hope this helps.
