HIGHER EDUCATION RESOURCES COLLECTION OPEN VISITS
Led by the University of Southampton, the Subject Centre for Languages,
Linguistics and Area Studies has been set up to promote high quality
teaching and learning across UK higher education institutions. The C&IT
Centre for the Subject Centre is based at the University of Hull; the HE
Resources Collection is housed in a dedicated Higher Education area
within the library of the Centre for Information on Language Teaching
and Research (CILT) in Covent Garden. The collection includes material
related to language teaching and methodology, and a range of relevant
teaching materials such as software, audio and video materials,
course-books developed specifically for use in the HE context, teaching
materials for languages for specific purposes and FDTL project outputs.
The library also holds a collection of over 400 journal titles.
In additional to audio-visual and study facilities in other parts of the
library, the HE area has a dedicated open study facility with room for 8
people and a multimedia area which currently has:
* 2 high specification PCs equipped with full multimedia including DVD
and CD-ROM players.
* Facilities for playing analogue audio and videocassettes.
* A work area that can comfortably accommodate 4-5 people
Open visits are taking place at the CILT library in London on Wed Jan
10th, Thurs March 15th and Thurs May 17th. An outline of the session
programme is given below.

12:15 - 1:00 Questions & Answer Session - an opportunity for users
to discuss their needs with Subject Centre staff.
Participants are welcome to remain beyond 1:00 p.m. to look around the
library at their leisure.

to attend from HE, visits from groups of staff from a given institution
