Recently I received a letter from Rolando Pieraccini, who is engaged in
research on "Finnish Characters in World Literature." I quote from his
letter:
I take the liberty of writing to you, to inquire whether you
have ever encountered in your readings, or perhaps used in
your works, any literary characters of Finnish nationality or
origin. The characters can be major or minor figures,
progatonists or merely 'extras', or even fleeting apparitons,
such as Nick Carraway's maidservant in F. S. Fitzgerald's
The Great Gatsby.
I am afraid that I was not able to help much, but I wrote him that I
would pass his request on to you, who appear an intelligent, well-read,
and cooperative group, indeed. He gave no e-mail, but his address is as
follows:
Rolando Pieraccini
Luoteisvayla 25 D
00200 Helsinki
Finland
Best regards to all,
Bill Dillingham
