I have received the following from Mailbase, which list members may wish
to take into account before leaving for the festive season. May I
meanwhile wish you all the best for the holiday, and may all your
millenium bug fears fail to materialise!
Mailbase says:
Mailbase is ready for the Year 2000, and we do not foresee any
problems which will affect our services to the education
community, although we will continue to maintain a high degree of
awareness during the final weeks of 1999.
We will be extending the queue timeout length to 14 days instead of the
usual 7, so messages will be held on the server for two weeks before
being returned to sender if delivery cannot be made.
The University of Newcastle, where Mailbase is based, will be closed
from Thursday, 23 December 1999 to Monday, 3 January 2000
(inclusive). The Mailbase service and list queues will monitored
during this time, but the Mailbase Helpline will not be staffed.

We CANNOT guarantee the continued operation of any other

List Members
--------------
List members may wish to temporarily suspend mail from their
lists over the holiday period, and we would recommend this if
your mail service will be shutting down over the holiday break.
