Hi everybody out there,
Saw all these introductions flying around so let's introduce myself as well.
My name is Marije van Koolwijk, I started my Ph.D. almost a year ago here at
Utrecht University. My project has the title: Tectonic and kinematic
response of the upper and lower crust to doming induced by extensional
collapse in an orogen.
With other words I am studying the structures of a HP/LT unit in Greece in
a profile from near the subduction zone to internally in the back-arc region
and try to date the new formed minerals (white mica) in shearbands with
Ar-Ar to put constraints on the tectonic evolution.
Originally I graduated in petrology with specialization in petrogenesis of
calc alkaline volcanism in La Palma, also one of the Canary Islands and
Western Australia. You can imagine that some problems are rising moving to a
structural project. So I want to ask you all a question:
Does anyone know about a fieldexcursion which focuses on the
characteristics of a metamorphic core complex? I would like to attend such
an excursion so any information, names of people to address would be really
great.
Have a nice day,
Marije
