Dear Alexander,
Just a humble question: "Why are you using MARC for cataloging a
numismatic object?"
Does your cataloguing system dictate MARC? Have you had a look at other
options? There is the MDA (Museums Documentation Association) standard
which might a bit over kill though. Other groups such as AMOL and
the Australian University Museums project have come up with condensed
crosswalks of the 168 MDA standard fields. In addition take a look at
the CIMI interpretation of Dublin Core for the use in cultural
history.
