Dear Colleagues
You may already be aware that last March the European Commission mandated a
Learning Technologies Workshop within CEN/ISSS to support the development
and implementation of standards appropriate for a European Learning Society.
A Project Team is collaborating with the members of the Workshop to develop
a consensus report in March 2000 that is intended to influence investment
and activity in European standardization of learning technologies.
Attached is an HTML version of the Project Team's Interim Report. So far 10
recommendations have been made. We know that these are not perfect and there
are still some clear gaps. Please read the report and make comments to the
Workshop list, particularly about the set of recommendations. Feel free to
pass the report on to others you think would be interested.
If you can see a need for another recommendation please send it to the
Workshop list briefly justifying your choice, if possible, with relevant
information about the user requirements, the action recommended, proposed
implementation and related activities.
Alternatively, if you have messages that you do not wish to send to the
whole list please email them to Erik Duval, the Chair of the Workshop, and
Mike Collett the Chair of the Project Team producing the Report.
An updated report and the comments received will be discussed at the next
Workshop meeting to be held at CEN in Brussels on 19th January 2000. You are
welcome to attend this open meeting.
