The University has made a strong strategic commitment to multidisciplinary
informatics research. It is now looking to advance its research programme of
existing activities (e.g. bio, corporate, health, scientific and transport
informatics) and develop new ones, including fundamental longer-term
research. A Chair of Informatics is sought whose academic strength, energy,
and vision will contribute to strengthening Leeds’ position as an
international research centre in Informatics.
Although preference may be given to those who can lead multidisciplinary
Informatics research, applications are also encouraged from those who excel
in any area relevant to the School's research: Artificial Intelligence
(automated reasoning, computer vision, natural language processing)
Information Systems (information modelling and management)
Internet Computing (virtual working systems, virtual prototyping, networking,
scalable high-performance systems )
Scheduling and Constraint Management
(transport scheduling, linear programming, metaheuristics, constraint
programming) Scientific Computation and Visualization (computational PDEs,
parallel algorithms. graphics) Theoretical Computer Science (algorithms and
complexity, formal methods, safety-related systems).
