The Role of the Sacro-Iliac Joint in Sports Injuries and Low Back Pain

Sacro-iliac dysfunction can result in a host of conditions i.e. low back
pain, hip bursitis, groin and hamstring strains, iliotibial band syndrome,
anterior knee pain, shin splints, achilles tendinitis.
The anatomy and biomechanics of this fascinating joint will be examined and
the role it plays in the above conditions. Also covered is stabilisation of
the pelvis, Pilates and using the Triple S Program. A patient will be
treated during the 2 days.
Presenters: Joanne Enslin-Madden B.Sc Physio and Shari Rosenberg B.Sc Physio
Joanne has spent the last 15 years in the USA and South Africa researching
the biomechanics of the sacro-iliac joint for her PhD. She treats national
cricket and rugby players.
Shari's clinical experience is in the treatment of muscle imbalance
dysfunction incorporating the Pilates Method into her rehabilitation.
