Not my area, but I'm told that similar problems have arisen
with other records of RDCs and UDCs for other parts of the
country.
The problem is two fold (1) some materials were lost at
re-organisation in 1974 and (2) some materials exist and
have simply not been indexed.
Rather depressing I know. My feeling is that there is fair
chance that your papers exist somewhere in a dark corner.
I seem to remember when I was researching my MPhil in the
early 1980s that material for Cramlington UDC was in the
CRO for Northumberland but I may be mistaken. It would be
worth your while, therefore, contacting the relevant CRO
for their help.
I can name several CROs where the staff say they have
neither the time nor the resources to index the materials
they have properly.
