I have recently finished teaching a course on Economic and Monetary Unions
in the Past. This is the web-site that was prepared to support the course,
which might be of interest to some of you
http://www.let.leidenuniv.nl/history/rtg/emu/
Separate pages are devoted to the USA (to 1860), Zollverein,
Austria-Hungary, Italian Unification, British Commonwealth, ECSC/EEC,
European EMU, German Unification, USSR and Yugoslavia. There are also weak
efforts on Netherland (1815-1830), Swiss Confederation, Benelux and EFTA
(help needed!)
Any suggestions and feed-back would be most welcome,
Best wishes
Richard Griffiths
Professor of Economic and Social History
