An example from the north: in the book of Djordje Jankovic, Serbian
gromilas, Belgrade 1998. (in serbian with an english summary), the attempt
is made to prove that the Serbs settled in Dalmatia as invited roman
federats just after 375 and the Huns. The "prove" are a number of almost
empty small "tumuli" and some that are not tumuli at all or are prehistoric
(like Boroneant-Stinga, Ostrvu Mare, Drobeta 1978). As it is known, the
Porphyrogenite version settels the Serbs and the Croats on the Balkans
during the reign of Heraclius (610-641).
It is worth to note that this book recently recieved bad critics on
archaeological round tables in Belgrade, but it was honored in some medias
under government control.
Maybe this is not the full "capitalist" use, but it is an use from
outside of archaeology anyway.
