I neglected to follow this up earlier!
there seems to be a possibility here to try to develop an approach to 3-d
sound-and-its-perception, which would allow the large-scale portrayal of
soundscapes, whether 'real' or 'virtual', and to realise this in hardware,
which could be made available to the sound-artist community.
I kind of already know what the technology would be (to start with, at
least) and how one might develop it further.
The point is that existing diffusion systems are not predicated on the
design aim of trying to realise the degree of resolution across a
large-scale 'field' (or: soundscape) which would be required if one wanted
people to walk through and around such a field.
comments, interest..?
