Always, back up to a separate location!
I had a friend who had her computer stolen _and_ all the back up disks in
the box beside the computer. It was a very painful event.
When I was working on my last major QDA project at the end of each working
day I made 2 copies. The original was on the hard disk. One copy was made
to a zip drive, and the other to a server over the network located in
another building. Alternatively, if the server was down, I took the zip
disk home.
You can print out a document, and get it typed if the disk fails. But with
QDA software nearly _all_ of the value is in the electronic version of the
file.
Doug.
