Thank you for the replies to my posting so far. The technique of moving the
deceased within a hospital ward and mortuary situation is well known to me
and does not present any great problem. However , my workforce can be
presented with moving and handling in very unusual circumstances and they
require specialist knowledge and skills. For instance, our company has the
police contract in a big city so they are called out to RTA's and
unidentified bodies found in derelict premises etc.As there may be a PM or a
criminal investigation, it is important that no further damage is caused to
the remains. The handling technique therefore is very important but I need
to be sure they are performing these tasks safely. I am looking for any
studies done on the funeral industry in general and moving and handling in
particular.
Thanks for your help and interest.
Margaret
