****Apologies for Cross Posting****
Dear Colleagues,
We are delighted to announce that as of 26 November 1999, the ADAM
catalogue (http://adam.ac.uk) contains 2500 records describing quality
internet resources in the creative arts.
We would like to extend our thanks to everybody who has supported us
over
the years, including all team members, past and present, who have worked
hard to help us reach this milestone.
We are also pleased to announce the launch of a number of great new
services now available on the ADAM web site. Go to the Search and
Browse section of the site to find the following:
* Browse by Subject
Use the ADAM Subject Headings to browse through the database.
* Multi-Option Browser
Browse the ADAM database by historical period and resource type, or
combine such a search with browsing by ADAM subject headings and the Art
and Architecture Thesaurus (a Getty publication).
* Place Name Browser
Browse the ADAM database by geographical area. This is based on the
Thesaurus of Geographic Names, a Getty publication.
* Advanced Search
Learn how to employ techniques that will help you narrow down your
search
and find the information you need more precisely. Includes Boolean
searching, phrase searching, proximity searching and more.
* Option Search
Search specific fields within the ADAM database, e.g., titles, URLs,
etc.
* Proximity Search
Use our specially designed interface to search for words near each other
within the database.
As a continually developing service, your thoughts and comments are
extremely valuable, and we welcome any feedback you have on these new
features.
Regards,
The ADAM Team
