The CORDIS site is being redesigned and colleagues are invited to
preview and test the new design. This is your opportunity to make
comments and influence developments - see the message below for
details. The test site is open until 12th November at:

Invitation to test the new CORDIS site design

The members of your network are in regular contact with innovation
players at various levels - researchers, and enterprises in particular.
Your members may be regular or occasional users of the CORDIS service,
and the organisations they assist and support may also be existing or
potential users of CORDIS.

Over the years, CORDIS has evolved from its origins (as a service mainly
for specialists) to become a web-based service that is easily accessed
by any would-be innovator - currently over 130 000 users every month. In
recent years, the growth of CORDIS information and services has been so
rapid that many occasional users are bewildered by the variety on offer.
To remedy this problem, and to pave the way for further new
developments, we have developed a new site design offering easier
navigation and a better overview of the data and services available.

We have now reached a final prototype stage. Before "going live" we
would like to make an ultimate check that the new design really is the
optimum solution for meeting the diverse needs of many different kinds
of user. The opinion of your network members is very important to us,
since they are one of the key groups of existing and potential CORDIS
users. It would also be very helpful if your members could encourage
some of their client enterprises and organisations to take a few minutes
to look at the test site and to let us know their reactions. Both
experienced CORDIS users and newcomers are welcome as testers.

This is an important opportunity for your members to influence the
development of CORDIS in order to ensure it caters for their needs, and
at the same time to manifest their support for this valuable European
Commission service. We thus invite you as network co-ordinator to
forward the following message to your members as soon as possible. You
may care to add your own encouragement to accept this invitation.

Thank you for your support.

General note - invitation to Beta test the CORDIS new site design

Take a few minutes to make sure a key information tool meets your needs.

Invitation to test the CORDIS new site design.

As you are probably aware, CORDIS (the European Community R&D
Information Service - http://www.cordis.lu) is growing fast. The huge
amount of information now on offer is sometimes daunting for
less-experienced users, so a special effort was called for to make
navigation even easier.

A new design for the CORDIS information service has been developed.
Earlier prototypes were tested in the spring of this year, and we have
now reached the final stages of our new design concept. However, before
installing this new design and organisation system for all our users we
want to make a last check that the layout and features are the optimum
solution for a maximum number of CORDIS users. Whatever the nature of
your work and your need for R&D and Innovation information, we hope this
new design will help you find what you want with minimum effort.

The new design is now visible as a test-site environment on:

http://www.cordis.lu/beta/home.html

We have also provided a simple on-line questionnaire to help you let us
know what you think. Please take a few minutes to look at our new design
and to react to what you find. This is important for us in order to
ensure we are on target, and it is an opportunity for you to directly
influence the future of an important working tool for many innovation
players.

This test site and feedback opportunity will be open from 27th October
to 12th November.

Thank you in advance for your support.
