There is an article in the proceedings of Disability Studies conference
(sorry SDS Society for Disability Studies). WHich is called, Beyond the
Minority Model, by Kay SHriner (U Ark) and Richard? Scotch? ( I am sorry
if I got the name of the second author wrong. This piece refers to the
"minority model" in the same way that the discussion on line has been
speaking of the social model. It suggests that even if you remove
discrimination, that disability and disadvantages still exist. I will try
to find a copy of it, but please email me OFF list if you want more
details. I think that the critique of social model is part of our praxis
and learning. If it works, it will withstand critism, if it doesn t quite
work it will adapt and serve us even better in its new version. Tanis
