....often runs towards certain cliches, which they'll get over, later.
This was just a coupkle of sentences in a book, and I clearly recall the
word "PROFUNDITY"
or maybe "EXCESS PROFUNDITY"
being on this list, of how people ignorant of disability first approach
thinking about it.
The whole list in this passage, was probably something like:
1. denial that this could be me, then
2. fear of own vulnerability / mortality
3. overly profound thoughts
4. seeing it as the occasion for deep philosophical thoughts
5. Over-reacting
6. Not simply dealing in a reality-based way, with the PWD in front of
onesself, whose presence triggered these thoughts.
Does ANYONE remember what book this is in?
It's one of those things that I had no interest in quoting, at the
time.... but later, I come up with a place to use the quote, and I
cannot remember where I read it.
Thanks for anyone who can help!
