Hmmm .... how come (on the basis of recent research on the Life as a
Disabled Child project) that most disabled children don't enjoy education
then? Sounds like the old argument, still being used, that adult education
is 'recreational', and because 'achievement' can't be quantified (because
most students don't take exams and the FEFC can't come up with any
assessment criteria for what they learn (sorry, enjoy?!)), that's a reason
for the 'failure' of adult learning.
Sounds like Baroness Warnock and her team need to catch up with their
lifelong learning then. I know some really good juggling and kite flying
classes!
Cheers, Mairian
Baroness Warnock this morning on BBC radio 4 said that in justifying
>funding for access to education for children who's imopairments were so
>extreme that they would never become economic contributors to society, her
>advisory group came up with the statement /phiosohy that...
>
>'the purpose of education is enjoyment'.
