DC-metadata folk
As many of you will have heard by now, the DC-7 meeting in Frankfurt was a
productive meeting that will lead to important changes in scope and focus
for the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative. I'll be detailing some of those
changes soon, but certainly the keystone of the Frankfurt meeting was
putting to bed the most important part of the 1999 Workplan: finalizing the
initial set of DC Qualifier semantics.
We have established a deadline for this goal: January 1, 2000
To meet this goal we have to finish up the proposals, solicit comment, and
approve them in the DC Advisory Committee.
Towards that end, I encourage those of you who are inclined to participate
to watch for the qualifier proposals to appear on their respective mailing
lists and to comment on them.
Proposals will be announced on both the relevant mailing lists and on
DC-General with URLs pointing to the proposals. Those who would like to
contribute to the discussions are encouraged to join the working group
mailing lists at http://www.mailbase.ac.uk
The timetable is as follows:
ELEMENT QUALIFIER PLAN TIMETABLE
The schedule for qualifier approval:
Proposals to working group lists by November 12
Discussion and revision of proposals November 26
Discussion and Final revisions December 10
Discussion and Approval by AC by December 24
