Gender?! You can't be serious in 1999! Is this hair-dressing for
women and car maintenance for men? This sounds like it could
contravene the Equal Opportunities Act.
Seriously, I think DC should be a-political, and that no
encouragement should be given to tagging resources as being of
interest by gender, race or age. (By 'age' I mean being 'too old', I
realise that some resources may be tagged for school age groups,
but they should be shown by academic level not age.)
I have been lurking on this working group, because I am aware that
we shortly will be working on creating metadata for resources used
for research, teaching and learning (at higher education level at
present). It seems to me that the current education climate implies
that we should be talking about 'learning' rather than 'training', eg.
initiatives like 'lifelong learning'. People on training courses are
learning.
