Hilary's points remind me of the of the UK government plans to
legislate to widen definitions of >terrorism<. I thought I would
mention this in case anyone on the list(s) had missd this.
The plans include classifying a range of actions that cause damage
to property as being terrorist acts. Those cited as potential targets
are animal Libeation activists. My guess, following Hilarys
comments, are that j18 and now n30 are foremost in home office
minds...on her suggestions of alternatives involving consumer-
citizenship those interested might like to look at my paper in
Space and Polity Vol. 3(1) pp 'The Role of the Consumer-citizen in
Environmental Protest in the 1990s'. Of course there limits and
drawbacks, both philospophically and practically, associated with
this type of approach...but there are some interesting examples out
there - including of course the BND exercise on Friday...
