In relation with this question, in my opinion the problem is not well
presented. In fact we are mixing two different things. On the one
hand, archaeology studies the remains of human activities.
Therefore, any remain of a human action is an archaeological object
(or subject) by definition. Even so, on the other hand we have the
problem of applying archaeology. In that respect, there is the social
consideration of what archaeology is, and therefore what the society
can accept as a subject of archaeological research (an money spent on
that). Moreover, there is also the scientific consideration of which
approach is best suited for a scientific study. In that sense, is
archaeology the best suited approach for recent societies studies ?
