Dear all,
The membership issue certainly provoked some debate! I understand
everyone's desire to keep discussions focussed on SMR issues but I'm going
to suggest that we need to take a broader view of who makes up the
professional constituency.
For example, if SMRs are to evolve into integrated records of the historic
environment then we need to open the debate to those who currently maintain
Historic Buildings Records.
Maybe we could benefit from some fresh ideas from students? Today I have
received a request for information from a student researching a dissertation
'The SMR: an out-dated tool or a service for the millennium.' We could be
using this forum to discuss good research topics with universities and
identifying work which benefits both SMRs and students.
Let's discuss the issues rather than the membership!
Kate
